On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the world famous and many award-winning puppet film “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” created by the famous painter and sculptor Jiří Trnka, JV Classics has prepared its renewed premiere with live accompaniment by the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra and Children’s Choir conducted by maestro Jan Kučera.
The popular actor Petr Stepanek will recite live the poetic Kainar’s text inspired by W. Shakespeare’s classics. By this way the spoken word would perfectly combine with live music to lend a new dimension to this immortal and fresh Trnka’s masterpiece.
Highly demanding preparations included the reconstruction of the scores written by the famous film music composer Mr. Vaclav Trojan, along with adjustment of the film for the live music. The result, however, is a completely unique and comprehensive experience from one of the most important achievements of the Czechoslovakian cinematography.
The revenues from the concert will be donated to the artist’s grandson Mr. Matyas Trnka for the reconstruction of the original puppets used in the film, which Mr. Trnka has already began with.
